This estimate uses the actual QR density and frame size, a 0.4 mm module target, and a 10:1 distance-to-symbol-width rule of thumb. It is a planning aid, not a scan guarantee. Artwork size includes the border, frame and caption. These settings do not resize downloaded files or print sheets.

Prepare a guest-network card

Use a guest network rather than sharing access to your main household or business network. Copy its network name (SSID) exactly, including capital letters and spaces, then select the matching security setting and enter its password. The generator escapes special characters in these fields for the Wi-Fi payload.

The form supports the security options shown in its selector. It is not an enterprise Wi-Fi setup tool and does not provide username, certificate or captive-portal configuration.

The password is readable, not encrypted by the QR

A Wi-Fi QR is a convenient way to share credentials, not a way to hide them. A reader can display the network name and password. Place the sign only where intended guests should have access, and replace it when credentials change.

Generation happens in your browser. If you explicitly save a complete project, the credentials are stored unencrypted in that browser profile. Design presets exclude the Wi-Fi fields; see the storage notice.

Test joining, not just decoding

Scan with a compatible phone that is not already connected.
Check that the offered network matches your guest network.
Join it and confirm internet access, including any separate sign-in page.

Scanner and operating-system support varies. Keep a readable network name and an alternative way to obtain the password available for guests who cannot use the QR.

If connection fails

Check the SSID, security selection and password against the router settings. A successful image scan does not validate the credentials or the router. If no join prompt appears, try another compatible scanner before changing the artwork. See the ZXing Wi-Fi payload reference for format details.
